Leather Duffel Bags & Weekenders
The Friday-night bag by the door, half-packed for two days away, does more work than any suitcase you own. A good leather duffle bag carries a long weekend without the wheels or the airport-carousel wait.
Our leather weekender and duffel bags are stunning and practical; fashionable and comfortable. They have a fully lined interior with a zippered pocket; a flat, firm bottom with protective metal feet; and an adjustable and removable shoulder strap.
Plus, every order ships free.

What Makes a Full-Grain Leather Duffel Worth It
Are leather duffel bags worth it? For a bag that lives in overhead bins and hotel closets, the grade of the leather is what you're really paying for.
Full-grain sits at the top: the outer layer of the hide with its natural surface left intact, so it softens and deepens in color the longer you carry it.
Below it, top-grain is sanded thinner and smoother. "Genuine leather," despite the reassuring name, is one of the lowest grades, and bonded leather is scraps pressed together.
Only full-grain patinas the way a travel bag should, and unlike coated nylon or bonded leather, it won't peel or flake with the miles. A weekend bag sees more handling than a briefcase ever will, and we handcraft ours in small batches with artisans in South America and India, so every duffel travels with its own markings.
Fitting a Carry-On: How the Sizes Compare
The standard US carry-on allowance is 22 by 14 by 9 inches, or 56 by 36 by 23 centimeters. Soft-sided leather has an edge a hardside spinner doesn't: it gives at the seams and compresses into a sizer.
- Charleston Duffel: 18 by 10 by 8 inches, 3 lb. Room to spare in the bin.
- Denver Duffel: 19 by 14 by 7 inches, 3 lb. The trimmest carry-on profile of the group.
- Cabin Duffel: 21 by 12 by 9 inches, 3 lb. A long weekend, packed and overhead.
- Prime Time Duffel: 21 by 12 by 9 inches, 4 lb. Same footprint, extra front storage.
- Las Vegas Weekender: 21 by 12 by 9 inches, 4.25 lb. Files and a change of clothes together.
- Carriage Bag: 21 by 14 by 8 inches, 2 lb. The lightest of the nine.
- Tour Bag: 22 by 10.5 by 9.5 inches, 3.85 lb. Rides the edge of the limit; best for longer trips.
- Deluxe Travel Bag: 22 by 10.5 by 10 inches, 4.7 lb. Our largest, sized for a week away.
Figure a night or two in the smaller bags, a long weekend at 21 inches, and four or five days in the 22-inch pair. Airline sizers vary slightly, so check yours before a tight connection.
Weekender, Duffel, or Overnight Bag
The words overlap in practice, and that is fine. A weekender is usually the wider, structured shape that holds its form and takes a file or shoe pocket, like the Las Vegas.
The duffel is the softer, top-zip cylinder built around one main compartment, like the Cabin or Denver. An overnight bag is simply the smallest of either, and "holdall" is the British word for the same thing.
For most short trips, pick by the shape that fits the overhead bin and your packing style, and let the label sort itself out. Our full weekender versus duffel guide walks through how to choose.
Nine Bags, and the Trip Each One Is For
Match the bag to the trip.
- Cabin Duffel: our most-carried duffel, understated with contrast stitching and one roomy main compartment, in cafe and black.
- Charleston Duffel: the flagship, three exterior pockets and the smallest footprint of the group, in cognac, black, charcoal, and brown.
- Denver Duffel: slim and secure, with a front zip pocket and the trimmest carry-on shape.
- Prime Time Duffel: double straps and two front pockets, the one to grab for a beach weekend.
- Las Vegas Weekender: the travel-and-work hybrid, with a front zip section sized for files and documents.
- Carriage Bag: the lightest at 2 lb, with tapered sides and a simple top zip, in cafe, natural, and black.
- Tour Bag: three top-zip sections for anyone who packs in compartments.
- Convention Bag: low-profile, with deceptive capacity and decorative leather trim.
- Deluxe Travel Bag: our biggest, most exterior pockets, made for a week away in cafe and black.
Caring for a Leather Travel Bag
Full-grain leather asks for very little. Wipe the occasional spill, and store your duffel upright and loosely filled between trips so it keeps its shape.
Two notes for the road: dry cleaning is hard on leather, so skip it, and in humid climates catch surface mold early before it settles. Our storage guide covers the off-season details.
